ERSAT EAV – Ertms on SATellite Enabling Application and Verification – European project achievements presented at the Workshop held in Roma

STATE OF THE ART EUROPEAN SATELLITE TECHNOLOGIES FOR REGIONAL TRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN EUROPE

Higher rail safety, modernization of local lines, lower costs and improvement of performance for 28,000 km of lines in Europe. These are the new benefits brought by the European project ERSAT EAV that is evaluating the adoption of the European satellite system for the local rail networks. Field tests in Italy, Sardinia and Germany on more than 15.000 km travelled.

The project’s highlights have been presented on January 30th  in a Workshop organized by ASSTRA – Italian Association of Local Public Transport representing more than 135 companies and is partner of ERSAT EAV project (www.ersat-eav.eu). Participants to the event have been GSA (European GNSS Agency), ASI (Italian Space Agency) ANSF (Italian Agency for Safety in Rail) the Italian rail companies associated to ASSTRA. Radiolabs has demonstrated the improvement of performance achieved with the new GALILEO system and EGNOS network – both European satellite infrastructures available for ERTMS.
