On March 3rd took place the final demo on D-BOX (Demining tool-BOX) at the premises of Finmeccanica in Giugliano in Campania (Naples), research and development project of comprehensive solution to augment the demining operation security, financed by European Commission.
D-BOX is a FP7 project, with the goal to develop a innovative solutions, methods and procedures, interfaced and integrated in a comprehensive toolbox for:
- Mapping and localization (long distance) of hazardous areas
- Close-in detection (short distance)
- Risk management
- Human, ethical and legal factors (including procedures and best practices)
- Neutralization of anti-personnal landmines and cluster munitions in an open and civil environment,
- Protective equipment for operators and population
- Training solutions for personnel and tools for mine risk population education
In this context, RadioLabs developed GAUGE (GNSS-based Accurate Unexpensive Georeference Estimator), an high accuracy geolocalization system with low cost equipment. GAUGE is a set of algorithms, application and procedures perfectly integrable with used technologies in D-BOX.
