The “Aerial technologies as Alternative Bearers for railway” workshop was held on 21 March as part of the European AB4Rail project (www.ab4rail.eu), coordinated by the Radiolabs CTO, prof. Franco Mazzenga, supported in the result dissemination by Prof. Romeo Giuliano (Guglielmo Marconi University, USGM) partner of the project.
In addition to prof. Alessandro Neri, president of Raiolabs, the workshop has been attended by important companies and international organizations including: the European Space Agency (with Enrico Spinelli and Maria Guta), Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking (EU-Rail) with Lea Paties, X2Rail (with Ulrich Geier of Kontron), Telespazio (with Antonio Ceccarelli), Thales Alenia Space (with Vincenzo Schena and Alessia Miglietta), Hispasat (with Diego Lopez Garcia) and Inmarsat (with Steven Tompkins).
The workshop was an important place for the dissemination of the first-year results of the AB4Rail project and gave the opportunity to discuss and promote new trends in the field of satellite technologies in the rail and transport sectors.
At the end, Eng. Francesco Rispoli (Radiolabs) moderated the round table, stimulating the debate among the speakers and promoting synergies between the satellite and railway communities.
