Two Open Call projects involving Radiolabs have been selected by the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking for funding.
The first one, coordinated by Radiolabs, is the GNSS Automated Virtualized Test Environment for Rail (GATE4RAIL). The goal of GATE4RAIL is a platform to achieving a realistic characterization of the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) signals in the railways environment assessing the performance and properties of typical fail-safe train positioning components in nominal and fault conditions and to implement a common test process framework for zero on-site testing to minimizing cost and time. GATE4RAIL is based on the innovative geo-distributed simulation and verification platform connecting GNSS centres of excellence, and ERTMS/ETCS laboratories to evaluate the GNSS performances in the railway environment with agreed methodologies and tools.
The second project, coordinated by IFSTTAR with Radiolabs as a partner, is the Emulradio4Rail to provide an innovative platform for tests and validation of various radio access technologies (Wi-Fi, GSM-R, LTE, LTE-A, 5G and satellites) that combines very new approaches for testing so called System in the loop (SITL) and Hardware in the loop (HITL).
Both projects are linked with the Shift2Rail roadmap aiming to accelerate the adoption of the new GNSS and IP-based telecom technologies for the next generation of railway systems in Europe.
