Customer: European Community – Frame Program 6 IST FET
Duration: 2004-2007
The Project
The objective of the DELIS Project consists in the understanding of the structure, dynamics and “self-star” properties (self-organization, self-management, self-healing) of Large-scale Information Systems (LIS). In order to assess the system’s potential, two applications will be developed: 1) a management platform for transport networks, which will be able to integrate the various formats of data and services, 2) a decentralized search engine based on a P2P architecture, which will be able to achieve results of a better quality with comparison to the one of currently employed centralized search engines. The complexity of these systems requires decentralized and scalable mechanisms for self-regulation and self-repairs, which can enable LIS to adapt themselves to the surrounding environment, and to guarantee a stable and efficient behaviour even after critical phenomena (malicious attacks, faults).
